Discover Hong Wai, our guest designer this season

Aubade has called upon this Chinese artist to add her own twist to the art of Chinese ink painting for this brand new collection.

Born in Shanghai and now dividing her time between Paris and Macao, Hong Wai (@hong_wai_art) is an artist like no other. A graduate in Chinese literature as well as arts and languages, she is passionate about the ancient art of Chinese ink painting. Her feminine perspective brings this traditionally male-oriented art into a whole new light.

She was scarcely 17 years old when her talent was spotted by one of the most prestigious art galleries. The young woman then presented many exhibitions from Taipei to Lisbon, Hong Kong, New York, Singapore and Miami. Her works pay homage to women, such as the Secrets de Boudoir and Feminine Landscape series.

Her delicate hand was what won over Aubade, who then gave her carte blanche to create a floral motif expressed on exclusive embroidery and lace. Thoroughly sensual, these designs led to the Encre de Chine collection, representing the perfect fusion between Aubade's DNA and the grace of Chinese art. A realm where strength is at one with fragility, representing beauty and femininity.
